If planning your upcoming wedding, you would also need to start thinking about various honeymoon destinations. After spending a year, sometimes more organizing the perfect wedding, you and your future spouse would be ready for some much-needed alone time. While wedding planning is often stressful, planning for the honeymoon should be exciting. Remember, when it comes to honeymoon destinations, there is no right or wrong, good or bad, only the type of honeymoon the two of you want to experience.
As you can imagine, the list of possible honeymoon destinations is massive. After all, you could look at options within the United States, foreign countries, casual getaways, lavish, five-star resorts, and more. To get started, the two of you should sit down to brainstorm about the type of honeymoon wanted. Chances are good you would each have a different opinion as to the destination so if this happens, remember the budget, the amount of time you could take off from work, and any special interests.
Of course, the budget would be a huge deciding factor when looking for ultimate honeymoon destinations. Often, couples go overboard, spending more than they could actually afford. The last thing you want is to start the new marriage off in debt to a bank or credit union, or owing money to a family member. Yes, it would be great if there were no restrictions but you need to be realistic about what you can afford. Keep in mind that even if you have a low budget, with thousands of honeymoon destinations you would find something perfect.
In choosing the destination it would also be important to consider the amount of time the two of you would be able to take off from work. Typically, companies are more than willing to provide newly married couples with time for the honeymoon but obviously, this would go against any available vacation time. Let us say you both had two weeks available. Together, decide if you want both weeks to be used for the honeymoon or if it makes more sense to take a one-week honeymoon and a one-week mini-vacation or a few days here and there later in the year.
Another factor when looking at different honeymoon destinations would be special interests, things you want to do and see. Many times, the honeymoon is the first test of compromise that couples experience so prepare for a few bumps in the road. For instance, a husband may want to visit places within the United States where civil wars are reenacted, mountain regions to stay in a remote cabin, or perhaps use this time as a motorcycle journey.
However, the wife might be looking at the honeymoon completely different. In her mind, she may be more interested in taking a long honeymoon opposed to four to seven days. In addition, her idea of the dream honeymoon might be traveling to some tropical paradise to spend time relaxing and soaking up the sun on the beach or shy may prefer a luxurious cruise to Greece.
As you can see, several factors would come into play when planning your honeymoon. The key is to start the planning process far enough out so any differences of opinion would be addressed early instead of last minute. Most importantly, as you and your future spouse spend time looking at the various honeymoon destinations within your budget, enjoy the process and be thankful for this new life together and the many adventures and memories it will bring.
