Tips for Choosing Disney Cruise Excursions

Taking a Disney cruise comes with many incredible opportunities, with most of those being on the ship.  Although all cruises offer different activities and forms of entertainment, Disney Cruise Line is notorious for providing passengers with an abundance of options for people of all ages.  Therefore, if wanted, you and the entire family could stay on the ship even when at ports of call and have an incredible vacation but along with this, a nice array of excursions is also offered.

If you disembark from the Disney ship to explore things at the different ports of call, this simply adds to the overall experience.  The challenge is trying to narrow down excursion choices to fit in with the allotted time off the ship.  Typically, Disney Cruise Line provides passengers with a long list of possibilities for each port of call.  However, in some instances additional adventures could be enjoyed by choosing things on your own.

Just keep in mind that primary reason Disney strongly recommends you stick with something on their list is for safety reasons.  For instance, the various excursion suggestions provided for the Disney cruise would be those that have created some type of partnership with Disney.  Because of this, you would benefit from low prices, experience excellent customer service, and be safe and secure.  This is not to say that things you decide to do on your own would be dangerous or expensive, just that the possibility exists.

Often, landing in a port of call results in locals offering to show you the sights of an island, take you to historical sites that you might not otherwise see, or introducing you to cultural experiences not provided by planned excursions.  By providing standalone excursions, locals have the opportunity to make money and in exchange, you get to see and do things other passengers would miss.  In most cases, this kind of exploration is safe, but unfortunately, not all people are honest.  For this reason alone, even if a local offers an amazing experience you are interested in, we recommend you stick to the excursions sanctioned by Disney Cruise Line.

Keep in mind that because excursion possibilities listed by Disney are varied, there would be no reason to be bored or feel you were missing some great experience.  When you book your cruise through Disney Cruise Line via the internet, you would have the ability to pull up the different excursions for each port of call.  From there, you could read information about the adventure on the Disney Cruise Line website or conduct additional research on your own.  Once you decide the excursion or excursions you want to take, payment could be made right there on Disney’s site.

Now, if you were unsure the excursions you want to enjoy, you can also book them once you board the ship.  Onboard all of Disney’s cruise ships, concierge or guest assistance services are provided.  With this, you could visit with a cruise ship representative at your leisure to book excursions.  Some passengers prefer this route in that it provides them the chance to ask more questions and get more information.  In fact, these Disney professionals have experienced the different excursions for the ship’s port of call so they would also be able to offer an opinion based on personal experience.

You want to choose excursions most interested in but in addition, other factors would come into play.  For instance, you want to choose adventures that are age-appropriate for family members, price would be a contributing factor, and the time involved for each excursion should be considered.  Because you would have limited time while at each port of call, if you wanted to experience more than one excursion the time involved would be important.  Obviously, experiencing more than one thing would require you choose excursions that coordinate so you can have an enjoyable time without feeling rushed but still have plenty of time to return to the Disney cruise ship.
