When taking a cruise, you have every right to feel safe and secure throughout the entire experience. This means from the time you board the ship, for any off-ship excursions, and until you arrive back at the original port of call, you need to know that you are protected. Not only does cruise safety mean feeling secure from other passengers and people on shore, it also means feeling safe from staff. Of course, Disney Cruise Line hires only the most qualified people, with each required to complete special training but even so, it is nice to know that precautions have been implemented so your cruise is nothing but enjoyable.
The people running Disney Cruise Line understands the cruises offered are unique in that they cater to families, to include small children so while they would work hard for your safety regardless, knowing extra precious cargo is onboard makes them work even harder for passenger safety. In addition, no matter the itinerary chosen, three, four, or seven nights at sea, or the destination of choice, passenger safety is the top priority.
A prime example is that prior to the ship even leaving the original dock, International Safety Regulations and the United States Coast Guard require all passengers complete a safety drill. You would be given instructions of what to do and where to go in case of emergency so if something were to happen onboard such as a fire, no confusion would exist. Another safety measure is the picture identification system. With this, you would be required to show a picture ID anytime you get on or off the ship at a port of call.
Then, once the ship arrives at a port of call for excursions, special safety checks are in place. That way, the same number of people getting back onboard to leave the destination is the same number of people that went to shore. Even when the ports of call are in extremely safe cities, every precaution is taken to get everyone back on the ship before leaving. In addition, no child under the age of 18 is permitted to leave the ship at any port of call unless accompanied by an adult with proper documentation showing legal custody.
Safety is also provided in the staterooms. Because Disney Cruise Line has 900 staterooms on all of its ships, you and your family would have the option to choose a room large enough to accommodate everyone to keep the family together. If you plan to cruise with an extended family, Disney would work hard to keep everyone in the same area, again keeping family close by.

Additionally, if you want to spend time enjoying activities geared for adults, or even go on an adult excursion but you have a small child with you, Disney Cruise Line has an exceptional onboard day care center. If you were still on the ship while using the center, you would be provided a pager assigned to your child so if at any time they need you, a page would be sent. Of course, you are invited to check on your child at any time.
Even the design the all the ships owned and operated by Disney Cruise Lines meet strict industry standards. For instance, all of the railings are made from strong material and heavily secured. Plexiglas is used with the railings so no gaps exist through which a small child might fall. You will also find that all Disney ships have an onboard doctor and nurses who are on call 24×7. Whether something minor or a major accident or illness, these people are qualified to handle the situation.
Remember, along with all the measures Disney Cruise Lines has put in place, you still need to use common senses when taking a cruise, especially if traveling with small children. With the two combined, your vacation would be everything you hoped for and more. After the cruise, you would arrive back at the point from where you left, safe, sound, and happy.
