With the launch of each Royal Caribbean cruise ship, people stand in awe. The entire fleet for this cruise line is quite impressive but with the most recent introduction of the “Oasis of the Seas”, it is obvious that this particular cruise line has taken things to an entirely new level of sophistication. When this ship was being built, some controversy surfaced in that some executives felt the massive size of the ship would mean longer delays while other executives disagreed.
Today, the Oasis of the Seas is Royal Caribbean’s finest creation, a ship capable of accommodating 5,400 passengers. Because of the huge size and quantity of passengers, the boarding process for this ship within the Royal Caribbean fleet is being revamped and in fact, changing the system for the entire fleet is something currently being discussed amongst company executives. For instance, when the ship lands at a port of call, security screenings will be conducted on passengers boarding the ship again prior to reaching the gangplank.
The Oasis of the Seas now has the honor of being the largest ship ever built. Security on this ship is of course more of a challenge but the professionals with Royal Caribbean have developed a number of new systems that will streamline various screening methods. Another change is that with this ship, passengers would be pre-screened prior to reaching the entry of the ship. As a result, the standard problem of bottlenecking is eliminated.
Of course, other changes have been implemented for the Oasis of the Seas such as universal waivers. With this, rather than passengers being required to sign a waiver for every physical activity enjoyed while sailing with Royal Caribbean, a universal waiver can be signed. With this change, the passenger would choose the activities prior to the ship sailing and the waiver would be signed just once for each of those adventures.
Another innovative change that passengers will be able to enjoy while sailing on the new Oasis of the Seas is that food and beverage servers will carry small tablets around so drinks can now be signed for by the passenger electronically. This eliminates the need for paper orders, which leads to mistakes and errors. The new system would make ordering a drink fast and easy, but also accurate.
Although the Oasis of the Seas is designed to serve many purposes, the number one goal is entertainment. Unlike any other cruise ship in service from Royal Caribbean or another cruise line, the Oasis of the Seas features the Entertainment Place, which is a huge district within the ship where you can find live jazz and blues bands, dancing, hot nightclubs, and much more.
Weighing 220,000 tons, the very sight of this Royal Caribbean ship is inspiring. So many people have been watching and waiting for the Oasis of the Seas to debut that now it is ready to be enjoyed cruises book quickly. For instance, the ship has an impressive 1,380 seat main theater, as well as smaller theaters. It also boasts an ice skating rink, huge casino, two themed walkways, and the list goes on. If you have never been on a cruise, this would be the ultimate experience but if you have sailed before, after going on the Oasis of the Seas, it would be hard to sail on any other ship.
