Considering that thousands upon thousands of options exist, trying to narrow choices down can be a daunting task. We all know of about Hawaii, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and other tropical destinations deemed romantic but in this article, we wanted to steer you toward some of the unique destinations that are unfortunately overlooked.
Keep in mind that when talking about romantic destinations, every person has his or her own opinion of what constitutes “romance”. For instance, some people think of a Gondola ride in Venice as being the epitome of romance while others find the thrill of an African safari as being romantic. Therefore, you and the love of your life would need to have some hint as to your definition of romance so choosing the best romantic destination would be possible.
We have listed a few options that you might consider, wonderful destinations that are worth considering.
Cameron Highland
Located in Malaysia, Cameron Highland is simply gorgeous. There, you would find a tranquil atmosphere, rolling green hills, and tea plantations steeping in culture. It is a real shame that more couples do not consider this destination in that it definitely offers an incredible romantic getaway. In Cameron Highland, the colonial architecture is a focal point to include timber-beamed ceilings, oversized French doors, and of course shutters.
Together, the two of you could walk hand-in-hand along maintained jungle trails, stroll through strawberry farms and tea plantations, or simply stay tucked away at the hotel or resort. Although several excellent accommodations are available in Cameron Highland, one that deserves to be a part of your romantic getaway is the Cameron Highlands Resort. Surrounded by amazing vegetation and with breathtaking views, this resort offers 56 stately rooms. After a long day, time at the Spa Village would be the perfect way of ending the day with a number of different treatments.
Lijang
Throughout China are many wonderful cities thought of as romantic destinations. While some head to Lijang, most often the larger and better known cities such as Shanghai are chosen. However, Lijang is truly a remarkable place that would not disappoint. To the north you would have the opportunity to see the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain or you could visit different sites as you make your way through the city going over the multitude of bridges and cobblestone streets. Often referred to as the “Venice of Asia”, Lijang is an ideal destination to celebrate love.
Bintan Island
Another of the many romantic destinations that are often overlooked is located in Indonesia. Bintan Island is actually one of 3,200 islands that make up the Riau Archipelago, which is not far from Singapore. This tropical getaway has dense rainforests and white, sandy beaches. This island even boasts an ancient volcano and a view of the South China Sea. If a place of serenity is one of the key things you have searched for in other romantic destinations, with Bintan Island you would not need to look further.
Romantic European Travel Destinations
If you want to add a little spice to your relationship or you simply want to do something nice for the person you love, perhaps booking a romantic getaway would be the answer. Although there are multiple possibilities, we wanted to focus on romantic European destinations. Europe has long been one of the favorite destinations for couples and with so many countries, each with something unique to offer, this part of the world makes the perfect retreat.
1. Venice – Almost any city in Italy would be considered a romantic European destination but Venice tops our list because it is so unique and beautiful. Throughout the city, you will see hints of old Italy can be seen such as architectural features. In addition, the food is authentic Italian, an experience of its own. The great thing about getting away to Venice is that if you wanted privacy and relaxation, you could travel during the fall and winter months to avoid crowds but if you love the hustle and bustle of life, summer in Venice always offers something exciting.
2. Paris – Known as the city for couples in love, Paris is another excellent romantic destination. Although you could choose a secluded place to stay and quiet coffee shops, we recommend you also take time to visit some of the popular tourist sites such as Sacre-Coeur, the Park of Luxembourg, and any number of open flea markets.
3. Copenhagen – This destination is one of the older cities for people in love. The interesting aspect of Copenhagen is the perfect balance of old and new. You could spend time marveling at cobblestone squares and middle age architecture while dining in contemporary restaurants and staying in high-end hotels at night.
4. Amsterdam – This romantic European destination is famous for its cobblestone streets, beautiful architecture, and of course, the canals found throughout the city. During the day, you could enjoy a casual bike ride, take a boat ride to enjoy the sites, or walk through any number of parks with lush greenery. At night, Amsterdam boasts charming restaurants and shows, or you could simply head back to the hotel for some alone time.
5. Prague – Although this city has only been considered a top choice since the 1980s, it is now considered one of the most romantic European destinations. Over the years, tourist traffic to Prague has increased substantially thanks in part to the ancient castles, bridges, great food, quaint accommodations, and welcoming locals.
6. Brugge – For the next romantic European destination, we suggest you not overlook Brugge. Although this Belgium city small, it is actually the most visited. Much of the architecture in Brugge is old, the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful, and no romantic vacation would be complete without chocolate and Brugge features the best in the world.
7. Barcelona – Spain is a wonderful place that has stunning architecture, a vibrant nightlife, parks, wonderful food, and many other amenities. Because of the diversity of Barcelona and the beautiful views, it definitely ranks high for romantic European destinations.
8. Berlin – The last option we wanted to offer is Berlin, which is a vibrant city. Berlin offers a wide range of things to do and see. The nightlife is exciting but then during the day, finding more tranquil things to do with the person you love is easy.
