Pacific Rim National Park


Pacific Rim National Park is located on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. If you are planning a trip to this region of Canada then you will not be disappointed at what you find upon visiting this park. The park encompasses Long Beach which is a stretch of wide and sandy beaches that is 40 kilometers in length. These beaches stretch between the coastal towns of Ucluelet and Tofino, which are both very quaint and welcoming to visitors.

There are plenty of comfortable and luxurious hotels on the coastline that provide access to the beauty of Vancouver Island’s nature and the entrance to the Pacific Rim National Park. Sometimes referred to as the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve you can delight in the awe of standing in an ancient rainforest. Imagine looking up at huge trees while you are surrounded by warm mist.

For those who like to surf this is the place for you to be! It is often thought of as a paradise for surfers. In fact you can surf all 12 months of the year. If you like to kayak then you can wind in and around clusters of islands that are all very alluring to behold. The inner waters are full of marine life while the rocky shores that you will come across are lined with secret and mysterious caves, twisted cedar trees and blowholes like you have never seen before. One of the world’s premier sea kayaking destinations here is known as the Broken Group Islands. Here you will be pleased to find that there are more than 100 secluded islands that come with their very own sheltered waterways. Kayakers come from all over the world to enjoy these waters.

For those who enjoy hiking, the walking paths and hiking routes through the park will not let you down! Within the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is a 75km/47 mi trail called the West Coast Trail. Here you can enjoy the many expansive beaches along the way. Be aware that in order to walk this trail you must make a reservation. Book early though as this is a very popular vacation activity.

Speaking of beaches, if you enjoy the peace and relaxation of a soft sandy beach then pack your sunscreen and your bathing suit and get ready for plenty of fun in the sun at this Canadian vacation destination. Some of the most popular beaches in the area include Long Beach, Wickaninnish Bay and Schooner.

If you like to whale watch then you can do so at Pacific Rim. The best time of year to catch sight of whales is in March and April. Approximately 22,000 grey whales pass through the Pacific Rim on their way to their Arctic feeding grounds during these two months of the year. From May to October it is common to see humpbacks and orcas as many live in these water. Storms pummel the coastline during late autumn and winter so if you are a storm watcher this might be the time of year to book your vacation getaway!
