If you want to take a cruise the entire family would enjoy, you cannot go wrong in choosing sail dates aboard Disney Magic or Disney Wonder, although two additional cruise ships will be launched in 2011 to include Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy that will also provide incredible experiences. Onboard, you and the family would have the opportunity to stay as busy as you want or kick back and just relax. In addition to all that the Disney cruises offer while on the ship, many additional experiences are waiting to be discovered in the form of excursions.
We wanted to provide you with information on a few of the excursions that both Disney Magic and Disney Wonder currently offer but remember that to keep things exciting and interesting, Disney Cruise Line changes or adds other excursions on occasion. Of course, with destinations for Disney cruises being so varied, the types of shore excursions are amazing. The following are some of the more popular excursions from which you could choose while sailing on Disney cruise ships.
Ajaccio Corsica
• Corte – For this excursion, you would travel up mountainous roads to visit the island’s former capital and amazing ruins.
• Tortoise Protection Center – This center is the only one in Europe where more than 180 tortoise species are protected so they can continue to provide enjoyment to families for years to come.
Barbados, West Indies
• Four-Wheel and Monkey Adventure – Riding in a four-wheel drive with a highly qualified driver, the trip would take you back into remote areas of Barbados where the green monkey lives. In addition to being unique, this particular monkey species has been responsible for 70% of the world’s supply of Polio vaccines.
• Atlantis Submarine – Another great excursion would be to board a real submarine that takes you below the surface to see beautiful creatures living in the waters around Barbados through oversized portholes.
Civitavecchia, Italy
• Rome and the Vatican City – The great thing about this particular Disney excursion is that along with the adults being able to see and appreciate historical sites such as the towering Basilica and St. Peter’s Square, children are treated to a traditional Italian puppet show under the close supervision of Youth Activities Counselors from the cruise ship. This means adults can have their time knowing the children are having a blast and without worrying about their safety.
• Taste of Rome – As one of Disney’s more popular shore excursions, this includes both a guided tour and free time. As a part of the tour, you and the family would get to see the Roman Coliseum and Forum and then while on your own, you could spend time leisurely shopping, eating lunch, or even sightseeing.
Cozumel, Mexico
• Adventure Park – If you and the family love the outdoors, this Disney excursion should not be overlooked. Included is a zip-line experience that takes you on a wire over the rainforest canopy, hiking, and snorkeling in Caribbean waters.
• Cozumel and Mayan Ruins – For this excursion, you would visit the San Gervasio ruins, which were the first to be discovered by Spanish explorers.
Nassau, Bahamas
• Atlantis Dolphin Cay – In shallow water, the entire family would have an amazing opportunity to swim with bottlenose dolphins. The open-air marina is stunning and offers a number of different opportunities, regardless of age.
• Day at the Beach – This Disney Cruise Line excursion would provide a day at a secluded beach in the Bahamas where everyone can enjoy various in-water and on-shore activities.
