Exciting Kids Programs Aboard Disney Cruise Ships

When you hear of Disney cruises, the first thing that typically comes to mind includes programs designed specifically for kids.  Although these programs are a huge part of the Disney Cruise Line experience, the truth is that the entire family would enjoy amazing ports of call, live theater and musicals, family game shows, shopping, dining, and more.  However, one of the primary attractions is the kids programs found on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder cruise ships.  Then at the end of 2011 when two additional ships will be added to the fleet, opportunities will be even greater.

Of course, to keep things exciting and fresh, the kids programs are changed periodically but we wanted to offer some information on the more popular choices.  We suggest you research programs, entertainment, and activities for the Disney cruise ship you plan to sail on ahead of time so you have a good idea of what you want to do and could even book early.  If you have questions or need assistance in getting booked for any of the programs, the highly dedicated staff would be available to assist.

Disney takes pride in its Youth Club, which is designed specifically for the younger passengers.  Depending on the activity, some are set up for kids only so the parents can head off to enjoy some adult time while others are more family oriented.  No matter the kids program, all are supervised by true professionals and designed for fun.  Interestingly, many of the Disney Cruise Line programs for kids have received coveted awards.  Because of this and the quality of programs, children’s entertainment aboard any of the Disney ships is unrivaled.  Below are a few examples of what you would expect:

•    Aloft – Designed for teenagers, this program is available on the Disney Wonder.  Created for teens 13 to 17, kids have the chance to enjoy current music, spend time on the internet in a controlled setting, mingle with new friends, watch television, play video games, and more.

•    Arr-Cade – The Arcade on the new ships that will begin to sail in 2011, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, will feature a playground of video games unlike any other.  Although the focus is more on kids, mom and dad are welcome to join in the fun.

•    D Lounge – This lounge is also on the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream, designed for the whole family to enjoy.  Everyone can join in with singing, dancing, and outright fun.  In fact, at the D Lounge a variety of games are also played.

•    Oceaneer Club – One of the more popular programs is found in this special club.  Offered on all four of the Disney Cruise Line fleet, kids have the chance to dress up as a favorite hero or princess, get involved with carefully supervised themed activities, or play multiple games.

•    Oceaneer Lab – This program is also offered on all four of the Disney cruise ships where children could have fun while learning about the sea, mammals, and other underwater adventures.

•    Edge – For the older pre-teens and early teens, this spot on the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream is stunning while providing a great day of video games, television, music, internet activities, and much more.

•    Flounder’s Reef Nursery – On both Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the younger generator sailing the seas can enjoy a beautiful daycare with an amazing mermaid theme.  The youngest age watched is three months and the oldest three years, all under the care of highly trained professionals.

In addition to the special opportunities for kids listed above, many others are available.  If wanted, you could conduct an online search to learn about Ocean Quest, Quarter Maters, The Stack, Studio Sea, Vibe, and more.
